I visited and tried two of the restaurant’s original craft beers: the 800° Original Craft Beer, a pale ale, and the 800° Original Stout.
For food, I ordered smoked seared mackerel ham, fish and chips, and homemade bacon.
Of everything I tried, the 800° Original Craft Beer and the fish and chips were my favorites.
Here is what I experienced during my visit.
Visiting 800°DEGREES CRAFT BREW STAND
800°DEGREES CRAFT BREW STAND is located on the 6th floor of NEWoMan Yokohama, directly connected to Yokohama Station.
The location is one of the restaurant’s biggest advantages.

I visited because I wanted to try the restaurant’s original craft beers along with some of its food.
800° Original Craft Beer: A Pale Ale

My first beer was the 800° Original Craft Beer, a pale ale.
Pale ale is a style of beer that generally has a noticeable hop character while remaining relatively approachable and balanced compared with stronger, more intensely bitter IPA styles.
What I liked about the 800° Original Craft Beer was that it was easy to enjoy with food.
For me, it was the standout beer of the two I tried during my visit.
I also liked that it worked naturally with the food rather than being something I wanted to drink separately.
If you are new to craft beer, a pale ale can be a good style to try because it offers more hop character than a typical lager while generally remaining approachable.
For my taste, the 800° Original Craft Beer was a particularly enjoyable choice.
800° Original Stout
For my second beer, I ordered the 800° Original Stout.
This was a completely different style from the pale ale.
Stout is a dark beer known for its roasted malt character and deeper flavor. Compared with the pale ale, it generally gives you a richer and more roasted drinking experience.
I enjoyed having the two beers because the contrast made the differences between the styles easier to appreciate.
The pale ale was my favorite of the two, but trying the stout afterward gave me a good comparison.
If you already enjoy darker beers, the stout is an option worth considering.
Smoked Seared Mackerel Ham
For food, I first tried the smoked seared mackerel ham.
The combination of mackerel and smoking gives the dish a distinctive flavor, making it quite different from more familiar Western-style pub food.
I thought it was an interesting choice to have alongside craft beer.
Mackerel is a familiar fish in Japan, but presenting it in a smoked ham-style preparation creates a different experience.
For visitors who want to try something that combines Japanese ingredients with a more modern style of cooking, this is an interesting dish to consider.
Fish and Chips: My Favorite Dish

The fish and chips was my favorite food of the meal.
Fish and chips is a natural match for beer, but I particularly enjoyed having it with the 800° Original Craft Beer.
The crispy coating and the beer made a satisfying combination.
What I liked most was how easy the pairing felt. I didn’t have to think too much about which beer to drink with the dish.
The pale ale complemented the fried fish and chips well, making this my favorite food-and-beer combination of the visit.
If you are visiting with a friend and want to order something to share with your drinks, I would definitely consider the fish and chips.
Homemade Bacon

I also ordered the homemade bacon.
It was another beer-friendly dish and added a richer, more savory flavor to the meal.
Having several different dishes on the table also made it possible to compare how the beers worked with different types of food.
For me, though, the fish and chips paired particularly well with the pale ale.
Pale Ale vs. Stout: Which Did I Prefer?
After trying both beers, my preference was the 800° Original Craft Beer, the pale ale.
I enjoyed its approachable character and thought it worked especially well with the food I ordered.
The stout was interesting because it provided a completely different experience, but if I had to choose just one beer to order again, I would go with the pale ale.
If you enjoy craft beer, trying both is also worthwhile because the contrast between a pale ale and a stout is quite noticeable.
What I Liked About the Visit
The main thing I enjoyed was the combination of craft beer and food in a convenient location.
The 800° Original Craft Beer was my favorite beer, while the fish and chips was my favorite dish.
Together, they made the most enjoyable combination of the meal.
I also liked being able to try two very different beer styles in one visit.
Starting with a pale ale and then moving to a stout gave me a chance to experience both a lighter, hop-forward style and a darker, roasted style.
For anyone interested in exploring craft beer, I think this kind of comparison makes a visit more interesting.
Would I Go Back?
Yes.
The main reason is that I enjoyed the original pale ale and would be happy to have it with the fish and chips again.
At the same time, trying different beers is part of the fun of visiting a craft beer restaurant.
The convenient location near Yokohama Station also makes it easy to return when I’m in the area.
If you are exploring Yokohama and want somewhere casual for a craft beer and a meal, I think it is worth keeping in mind.
