If you’re looking for delicious ramen near Yokohama Station, Guangzhou Ichiba Yokohama Porta is a restaurant you shouldn’t miss.

Although the name “Guangzhou” suggests Chinese cuisine, the restaurant is best known for its handmade wontons. It specializes in juicy, freshly wrapped wontons and has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

On this visit, I ordered the restaurant’s signature Guangzhou Juicy Pork Wonton Noodles (Soy Sauce Flavor), along with Boiled Wontons (Sara Wonton) and Stir-Fried Shrimp with Egg.

What Is a Wonton?

A wonton is a traditional Chinese dumpling made by wrapping a thin sheet of dough around a filling, typically minced pork or shrimp.

In Japan, wontons are most commonly enjoyed in wonton noodle soup, but they can also be served boiled with sauce, deep-fried until crispy, or simply enjoyed on their own.

At Guangzhou Ichiba, the handmade wontons are the star of the menu. Each one is carefully wrapped and filled with juicy meat, making every bite incredibly satisfying.

For my main dish, I chose the restaurant’s signature Guangzhou Juicy Pork Wonton Noodles with Soy Sauce Soup.

The clear soy sauce broth has a rich yet gentle flavor that never feels heavy. It’s the kind of soup you’ll want to finish to the very last drop.

The thin noodles pair perfectly with the delicate broth, but the real highlight is the wontons themselves.

Wrapped in silky-thin skins, each wonton is filled with juicy pork that bursts with flavor as you take a bite. It’s a simple bowl, but one that’s comforting and memorable.

Choose Between Soy Sauce or Salt Broth

One of the great things about Guangzhou Ichiba is that you can choose between soy sauce and salt broth for many of its wonton noodle dishes.

  • Soy Sauce (Shoyu): Rich, savory, and comforting.
  • Salt (Shio): Light, clean, and refreshing.

I chose the soy sauce version this time and thoroughly enjoyed its balanced flavor. Next time, I’d love to try the salt broth.

Mini Size Is Also Available

If you’re exploring Yokohama and planning to try several restaurants in one day, you’ll appreciate that many wonton noodle dishes are also available in a mini size.

It’s a great option if you have a smaller appetite or simply want to save room for more local food later.

A Variety of Wontons to Choose From

Besides the signature juicy pork wontons, Guangzhou Ichiba offers several other varieties, including:

  • Coarsely Ground Pork Wontons
  • Shrimp Wontons

With so many options, every visit offers a chance to try something different.

Don’t Miss the Boiled Wontons

In addition to wonton noodles, I also ordered the Boiled Wontons (Sara Wonton).

Unlike the wontons served in soup, these are topped with a special savory sauce, allowing you to fully appreciate the texture of the delicate wrapper and the flavorful filling.

The silky skin and juicy meat make this dish an excellent appetizer or side order. It would also pair perfectly with a cold beer.

Stir-Fried Shrimp with Egg

To complete the meal, I ordered the Stir-Fried Shrimp with Egg.

The shrimp were plump and tender, while the eggs were soft and fluffy. The gentle seasoning complemented the wonton noodles beautifully without overpowering them.

If you’re dining with friends or family, this is an excellent dish to share.

Final Thoughts

Guangzhou Ichiba Yokohama Porta is the perfect place to experience some of Japan’s best wonton dishes.

From the juicy handmade wonton noodles to the delicious boiled wontons and satisfying side dishes, every item I tried was full of flavor and expertly prepared.

Located inside Yokohama Porta, the restaurant is directly connected to Yokohama Station, making it an easy stop for lunch or dinner while sightseeing.

If you’re visiting Yokohama and want to try something beyond ordinary ramen, Guangzhou Ichiba is a restaurant I highly recommend.
