If you are looking for German beer and food in Yokohama, The Hof Brau Yokohama is a restaurant worth checking out.
I visited with a friend shortly after 5:00 p.m. and enjoyed two beers: a 320 ml glass of Hofbräu Lager and a Hofbräu Hefeweizen.
For food, we ordered the restaurant’s famous Spaghetti Pizza, a prosciutto and arugula salad, and a three-kind selection of homemade sausages. We also had dessert.
The beer was very good, and the Spaghetti Pizza was one of the highlights of the meal.
What I particularly enjoyed was the old-fashioned atmosphere of the restaurant. The food also arrived quickly, which made the meal feel relaxed and convenient.
Here is what I experienced during my visit.
Visiting The Hof Brau Yokohama
I visited The Hof Brau Yokohama with a friend shortly after 5:00 p.m.
The restaurant has an old-fashioned atmosphere, which gives it a different character from newer restaurants and modern beer bars.
I liked this atmosphere because it felt like a place with its own history and personality.
Another thing I noticed during our visit was that the food was served quite quickly.
We ordered several dishes, but we didn’t have to wait long for them to arrive. That made it easy to enjoy the meal at a comfortable pace while having our beers.
Hofbräu Lager

My first beer was a 320 ml glass of Hofbräu Lager.
The beer is available in three sizes: 320 ml, 600 ml, and 1,200 ml.
I chose the 320 ml size because I wanted to try different beers rather than have a large serving of just one beer.
This worked well for me because I could enjoy the lager first and then move on to the Hofbräu Hefeweizen.
Lager is one of the most familiar beer styles around the world. It is generally crisp, refreshing, and easy to pair with food.
I found the Hofbräu Lager very enjoyable, and it was a refreshing way to start the meal.
If you are interested in trying several beers during your visit, I think choosing the smaller 320 ml size is a good option. It gives you more room to explore different beers without getting too full.
Hofbräu Hefeweizen
For my second beer, I ordered a Hofbräu Hefeweizen.
Hefeweizen is a traditional German wheat beer. Compared with a lager, it usually has a softer body and characteristic fruity and spicy aromas that come from the yeast used during brewing.
I enjoyed trying the Hefeweizen after the lager because the difference between the two beers was easy to notice.
The lager was crisp and refreshing, while the Hefeweizen offered a different aroma and drinking experience.
Both beers were good, but the opportunity to compare two different German beer styles was one of the enjoyable parts of the visit.
Spaghetti Pizza: A Yokohama Specialty

One of the dishes we ordered was the restaurant’s famous Spaghetti Pizza.
The name itself is enough to make you curious.
It combines spaghetti and pizza in one dish, creating something quite different from either a traditional pizza or a normal plate of pasta.
This was one of the most memorable dishes of the meal.
The combination of the pasta and pizza-style preparation makes it a dish that is difficult to compare with ordinary Italian food.
For travelers, I think this is one of the dishes worth trying if you want something that feels unique to the restaurant rather than simply ordering a standard pizza.
Prosciutto and Arugula Salad
We also ordered a prosciutto and arugula salad.
The fresh arugula and salty prosciutto provided a lighter option alongside the beer and the other heavier dishes.
I thought it was a useful addition to the meal because we were ordering several rich dishes to share.
It also gave us some variety in texture and flavor.
Three Kinds of Homemade Sausages
Of course, we couldn’t visit a German-style beer restaurant without trying sausages.
We ordered a three-kind selection of homemade sausages.
Having three different types in one order was a good way to compare them rather than choosing just one.
The sausages also felt like a natural match for the German beers.
For anyone visiting The Hof Brau Yokohama for the first time, I think a sausage selection is a good choice if you want to experience the restaurant’s German-style food.
Dessert

We also finished the meal with dessert.
After the beer and savory dishes, it was a nice way to finish the meal.
Although the beer and Spaghetti Pizza were the highlights for me, having dessert made the visit feel more like a complete meal rather than simply stopping by for drinks.
What I Liked About the Visit
There were three things that stood out to me during this visit.
First, the beer was very good.
Trying both the Hofbräu Lager and Hefeweizen also made the experience more interesting because they offered different characteristics.
Second, I really enjoyed the Spaghetti Pizza.
It was one of the most memorable dishes we ordered and something I would recommend trying if you want to experience something distinctive at the restaurant.
Finally, I liked the old-fashioned atmosphere.
The restaurant doesn’t feel like a modern craft beer bar. Instead, it has a more traditional character, which fits naturally with the German beer and food.
A Good Place for Two People
I visited with a friend, and I think the restaurant worked particularly well for two people.
Because there are several dishes that are suitable for sharing, we could order different foods and try a little of everything.
The three-kind sausage selection was particularly convenient for sharing.
We also found that the food was served quickly, so we could enjoy the meal without long waits between dishes.
If you’re visiting Yokohama with a friend and both of you enjoy beer and food, I think The Hof Brau Yokohama is a comfortable option.
Is The Hof Brau Yokohama Worth Visiting?
For me, yes.
I would particularly recommend it to:
- Travelers who enjoy German beer
- Visitors who want to try different styles of European beer
- People who enjoy sausages and hearty food
- Travelers looking for a restaurant with an old-fashioned atmosphere
- Visitors who want to try Yokohama’s unique food experiences
If this is your first visit, I would recommend trying a Hofbräu Lager and then a Hefeweizen so you can experience the difference between the two styles.
For food, the Spaghetti Pizza and the homemade sausage selection would be my choices.
