For photography enthusiasts, walking from downstream to upstream is highly recommended. The lighting is generally better from this direction, allowing you to capture the gorge at its most beautiful. The trail is relatively flat and easy to walk, with countless highlights along the way, including waterfalls, clear streams, and striking rock formations.
Explore the Beauty of Lake Towada
At the end of the trail lies Lake Towada, a caldera lake formed by volcanic activity around 200,000 years ago. A caldera lake is created when rainwater gradually fills a depression left by a volcanic eruption. One of the best ways to experience Lake Towada is by taking a sightseeing cruise, where you can admire the peaceful waters and the surrounding mountains from the lake.

I also enjoyed dining at the hotel’s buffet restaurant, Aomori Apple Kitchen. Centered around Aomori’s famous apples, the restaurant offers a wide variety of apple-inspired dishes, as well as several local specialties from the region. It’s a wonderful place to experience the flavors of Aomori.
