Yokohama’s Best Omakase: Sushi Tokyo Ten

yokohama sushi tokyo ten Food

Located inside the station complex right next to Yokohama Station, you’ll find an excellent sushi spot in NEWoMan: Sushi Tokyo Ten Yokohama.

This restaurant is built around the concept of enjoying a wide variety of seasonal ingredients in small portions, allowing you to fully experience the refined techniques of traditional Edomae sushi.

What is Omakase?

There’s only one option on the menu: Omakase.

“Omakase” means “I’ll leave it up to you,” a traditional Japanese dining style where you entrust everything to the sushi chef. Once you’re seated and order a drink, the experience begins—sushi and small dishes are served alternately, creating a perfectly paced meal.

Seasonal Highlights: Katsuo, Ikura, and Tuna

sushi katsuo

On this visit, we were served katsuo (bonito) sashimi. Katsuo migrates along Japan’s coastline and has two peak seasons each year.

In spring, it’s known as hatsu-gatsuo, offering a light, clean flavor with a pleasantly firm texture. In autumn, it becomes modori-gatsuo, rich in fat with a deep, melt-in-your-mouth taste.

sushi ikura

We also enjoyed ikura, salmon roe marinated in soy sauce. These small, glistening orange pearls burst in your mouth and are loved by all ages. It was served like a mini ikura bowl on top of sushi rice.

sushi maguro

And of course, no sushi experience is complete without maguro (tuna)—often considered the king of sushi. Its rich umami and buttery texture make it one of the most popular and satisfying toppings.

Portion Size and Dining Experience

In total, more than 20 different dishes were served, making it a very filling experience.

If you find it a bit too much, you can ask the chef to reduce the amount of rice in each piece of sushi. This small adjustment makes it much easier to enjoy the full course without feeling overwhelmed.

Enjoy Sushi with Rare Japanese Sake

The restaurant also offers a selection of rare Japanese sake.

Pairing high-quality sushi with carefully selected sake elevates the entire experience, making it a perfect choice for a special night out in Yokohama.

If you’re looking for a memorable omakase experience near Yokohama Station, Sushi Tokyo Ten is definitely worth a visit.
